The Ohio State football team is doing its best to prepare for the Peach Bowl at the end of the month. They take on the undefeated defending national champions. That’s a tall task on its own. To do that without your best player makes it much more difficult.

Yet, that’s what the Buckeyes have to do now that Jaxon Smith-Njigba has declared for the draft. He won’t play in the College Football Playoff. We told you that Todd McShay said on ESPN that the scouts believe him to be healthy and he is just protecting his draft stock.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s brother responds to McShay, saying he would love to play for the Ohio State football team right now.

Well, we have a response from Smith-Njigba’s brother. His brother, a professional baseball player within the Pirates organization Canaan Smith-Njigba, took to Twitter to debunk what McShay said and claims that there is no draft stock-protecting happening.

As you can see, JSN’s family is coming to his defense. That’s exactly what they are supposed to do and are expected to do. In fact, it would be more concerning if his family came out and said that this was indeed true. That would worry scouts more.

I’m not entirely sure what is true and what isn’t. People I trust close to the football program are being tight-lipped about it, which speaks volumes. I think this might actually be true and that JSN is shutting it down to protect his future earnings, but that’s just my opinion.

Either way, the Buckeyes will try to win a national championship without him.
