We knew this was a distinct possibility. The Ohio State Football team had been without Jaxon Smith-Njigba for the majority of the season, only seeing him suit up in parts of three games this season. He was the best player on this team quite frankly.

Yet, his hamstring kept staying injured, at least that’s what Ryan Day kept telling us. Now, JSN has officially decided to end his collegiate career. On a post on social media, Smith-Njigba had declared for the 2023 NFL Draft and won’t play in the College Football Playoff.

As you can see, Jaxon Smith-Njigba said that he tried multiple times to get back on the field and that the doctors have said he wouldn’t be healthy enough to compete in the Playoff. This is troubling for a couple of reasons, considering he’s been out most of this season.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba has played his final game for the Ohio State Football program.

The first reason why this is troubling is because JSN should never gotten hurt from the start. There’s no reason that he should’ve gotten hurt in the first quarter of the first game of the season. That’s a big problem with the strength and conditioning staff.

Secondly, if JSN is healthy and decided just to opt out, that’s also an issue. That would mean that he quit on his team when they had a legitimate shot to win a national championship. That would not reflect well on him when it comes to draft evaluation time, nor would it reflect well on Ohio State.

JSN did say that he was medically not cleared, so we have to take his word for it right now. I find it extremely troubling that the medical staff couldn’t get him fully healthy a single time this year. Maybe it’s time to find a new medical staff for the football program.

Next. Ohio State Football doesn't need to force balance. dark

No matter the case, we wish him luck at the next level.
