Ohio State Football: The season isn’t over
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program has a lot that they have to change right now. They have not lost consecutive games against TTUN for the first time in over 20 years. It’s been a rough couple of days for Ohio State fans who have been searching for answers as to why this happened again.
Ohio State still is an 11-1 football team that has won every game besides the one they played on Saturday afternoon in the Shoe. Even if the Buckeyes don’t make the College Football Playoff, which they still have a great shot of doing, the season isn’t over.
It is likely that the Buckeyes would then end up playing in the Rose Bowl like they did last year. We would have a similar situation where a lot of the same things that happened in last year’s Rose Bowl would happen again. A lot of players will sit out of the game and prepare for the Draft. Younger players will get a chance to show what they can do.
This season is not what Buckeye fans had in mind but good things can still come out of it. A Rose Bowl game is where we saw the emergence of Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka. Something similar can happen in a bowl game that doesn’t have national championship implications.
Even if the Buckeyes aren’t able to win a Big Ten title, they can still help prepare for next season. Even though this season isn’t over, it’s all about next year. That is of course assuming that both USC and TCU end up winning on Saturday because then the Buckeyes wouldn’t make the CFP.
A lot of things still need to play out. Buckeye fans can’t mope about The Game forever. We have to put it behind us and forge ahead.
