Ohio State football loses to TTUN thanks to coaching disaster
By Ryan Stano
Coming into The Game, the Ohio State football team was favored. They even looked good early, scoring in the game’s opening drive. But Ryan Day couldn’t make in-game adjustments and it ended up costing the Buckeyes a win. At home. Against their hated rivals. Again.
Despite not having a touchdown pass over 42 yards all season, Jim Knowles’ defense allowed JJ McCarthy to throw for three of them over that yardage amount. The defense, specifically the secondary, was trash throughout the game. They killed Ohio State’s chances to win.
You know who ends killed the Ohio State football team’s chances to win? Ryan Day. He had some terrible play calls in the second half. The Buckeyes scored a measly three points in the second half because of poor play calling. He’s proved that he can win games that don’t matter. He’s the first coach to have a losing record at any point in their coaching career since John Cooper.
Day refused to make second- hand adjustments for the second straight year. He got blown out at home against a team that was less talented than his team. I’m not saying he should be fired, but his seat should be getting warm. This is absolutely unacceptable.
Despite the loss, Ohio State is still not out of the CFP discussion. They have to hope that Notre Dame wins tonight against USC and that Georgia wins the SEC championship. That’s the only way that Day can salvage the season. Other than that, this is a waste of a season.
Day once again had a great team and blew it. There’s nothing else to say. There’s no reason Ohio State should lose by 20+ at home to TTUN. He needs to turn it around fast before the fan base turns on him.
