The Ohio State football team takes on the Michigan Wolverines this Saturday in Ohio Stadium. Will Jaxon Smith-Njigba make a surprise return?

The Ohio State football team will need all the weapons they have available to them this Saturday as they take on the No. 3 ranked Michigan Wolverines at noon in Columbus. The Buckeyes and Wolverines are both coming into this game undefeated. This is a game that’s sure to be an instant classic.

But with all the buzz and build-up to this game, the one storyline that’s been very quiet is the health of Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Can JSN surprise us all by making a historic comeback in the biggest game of the season? Is Ryan Day purposely keeping this quiet on JSN for a possible return, so Michigan doesn’t expect it?

The answer is most probably no, unfortunately for Buckeye nation. Ohio State beat reporters haven’t seen JSN around the Woody for a few weeks and he hasn’t been on the sidelines for a game since his failed return to the lineup against Iowa back in October.

The last we heard head coach Ryan Day speak about Jaxon Smith-Njigba was two weeks ago when he said this, via si.com, about a JSN return:

"“I wouldn’t say ‘expecting, I’d probably say more ‘hoping,’ but no (other) update at this point.”"

What a storyline it would be if JSN made a surprise return, with him already out of the minds of fans and media alike. If he was anywhere near 75-85 percent healthy, this Buckeye offense would be unstoppable against Michigan.

But alas, it’s probably a moot point. The good news is that aside from the uncertainty of Miyan Williams and Trevyon Henderson, the Buckeyes come into this game relatively healthy. Tommy Eichenberg is battling a broken hand, or possibly two, but that won’t slow him up.
