Ohio State Football: 3 bold predictions for the Michigan game
Prediction 1: Ohio State football controls the clock
This Ohio State offense may have found something in last week’s nailbiter against Maryland. The running game for the Buckeyes has been out of sorts all season long. Whether it be because of a lack of production by the tailbacks, poor offensive line play, or injuries, this Buckeye ground game has been sporadic at best.
But on Saturday Ryan Day and this offense saw their future in Dallan Hayden. He’s not a home run threat, yet, but he’s decisive and hits holes quickly and with authority. Exactly the type of running back that this offense needs so it can keep timing and rhythm with CJ Stroud and the passing game.
Getting solid yardage on first down could be crucial in a game like this and it will help the Buckeyes in controlling the clock. If Michigan feels that it needs to devote any extra manpower to stopping the run, it will really open things up for the Ohio State passing game and that could be enough to make them unstoppable against the Wolverines.
I’m predicting that while Hayden may not start, Ryan Day will quickly go to him if the running game isn’t going. And Hayden will take full advantage on his way to a 20-carry, 130-yard performance. But furthermore, it will afford Ohio State the luxury of being able to control the clock in this game, something the Buckeyes were not able to do last year against the Wolverines.
