Fans shouldn’t worry about Ohio State Football struggles vs. Maryland
By Ryan Stano
It was the final game that the Ohio State football team had to worry about before TTUN came to town. Maryland was not an easy team to face right before such a big rivalry game. It didn’t matter because the Buckeyes were able to win the game 43-30 and leave College Park undefeated.
Did the Buckeyes play their best game on Saturday afternoon? No, they did not. The offense struggled to move the ball at times because of stupid penalties. On defense, the cornerbacks got burned a few times on deep passes as well. Those are things they need to clean up.
But we saw that Ohio State wasn’t the only team that struggled on Saturday. In fact, all of the top five teams in the CFP rankings struggled. Georgia only scored 16 points against Kentucky. TTUN had to have a last-second field goal to beat Illinois. Ditto for TCU. Tennessee got throttled by South Carolina.
It was a week where all of the top teams struggled. The most important thing is that the Ohio State football team avoided the upset before a titanic clash with TTUN. While they will never admit it, I’m sure some of these Ohio State football players were looking ahead to that game.
They don’t have to look past opponents anymore. It’s officially Beat Michigan week and the Buckeyes can finally start to check off some goals on their list. Their goals are to beat TTUN, win a Big Ten Championship, and win a National Championship.
The first of those goals can be checked off next Saturday at noon. There will be a lot of hype around this game and we will certainly have a ton of content centered around this great rivalry coming out all week. I already can’t wait for November 26th.
