Biggest key for Ohio State football vs. Maryland
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team takes on Maryland tomorrow at 3:30 pm. It’s the last game that the Buckeyes have to play on the road and is also the final game before The Game. It’s going to be hard for players to keep their focus on the Terrapins instead of looking ahead to next week.
Ohio State clearly has more talent than Maryland does. They have more depth up and down the roster than the Terrapins do. Because the Buckeyes own that talent, they should be able to play some depth and not have to keep their starters out there for very long in this game.
The number one key for this Ohio State football team against Maryland is to come out of the game healthy. They have had numerous injury problems this season with many different players. They’ve been without their best player the whole season and he probably will never play for them again.
Ohio State has to go into The Game as healthy as possible because Michigan is by far the best team they will face in the regular season. Specifically, they have to be healthy at running back. TreVeyon Henderson should be healthy for the Maryland game, but he should only play in the first half in my opinion.
Maryland is not a cupcake and should not be taken lightly. At the same time, the Buckeyes have to be mindful of what is coming next weekend. Health is a big factor this time of year. It’s going to take everyone in order to beat TTUN and avenge last year’s embarrassing loss.
I expect Ryan Day to do the smart thing with his roster and get the starters out as soon as the game gets out of hand. Hopefully, that will be early in the third quarter.
