Prediction 2: The Ohio State football team has a new rushing leader for the game

The Buckeyes have a serious depth issue at running back. Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson can’t seem to stay healthy. Ryan Day said he does expect them back come Saturday in College Park. But another member of the running back room, Chip Trayanum is also expected to suit up for the Buckeyes after being injured last week.

I believe this will be his game to shine. If Henderson and Williams do play, don’t expect them to get a ton of action. Day will want to keep both of them healthy for next week’s game against Michigan. I think the same could be said for third-string back and true freshman Dallan Hayden, who has been a pleasant surprise for Ohio State.

All this leads to Chip Trayanum getting his first meaningful action at running back on Saturday. I believe Trayanum will get north of 15 carries in this game and that could very well be enough. Chip transferred into the program last offseason from Arizona State, where he played running back, to play linebacker for the Buckeyes.

I’m looking at 15 carries for 75 yards and a score for Trayanum as Day tries to keep his top three backs healthy and fresh for the big game next week.
