Ohio State football vs. Indiana: Will the weather be better?
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team struggled in Evanston last week against Northwestern. The weather is a large reason to blame. It was windy and rainy during the game, with winds gusting over 50 mph at times. It made throwing the ball nearly impossible for the Buckeyes.
Ryan Day said it was some of the worst conditions he’s ever played in and he’s glad he doesn’t have to do that again. With IU coming into town on Saturday afternoon, he’s hoping for much better weather. Will he end up getting his wish?
Right now, it looks like he will. It looks like the remnants of Hurricane Nicole will combine with a cold front on Friday to bring in rain, but it should stop by the time the game kicks off. So it looks like there won’t be any precipitation to deal with this week.
It won’t be nearly as windy either, although the wind might still be a factor in the kicking game. The wind will be about 10-15 mph throughout the game as opposed to the 30-40 mph sustained winds the Ohio State football team had to deal with last week in Evanston.
It will be cold though. If you’re headed to the game like I am, make sure you bundle up. It will be in the 30s when the game kicks off and the temperature will peak at 42 degrees. It will feel even colder than that with the wind factored in, so make sure you bring your winter coat.
This will be the coldest game the Buckeyes have played in this season, but that shouldn’t affect them as much as the wind and the rain did last weekend. The passing game should be much more effective in this type of weather, which is a massive advantage for Ohio State.
It’s a good thing the weather won’t be bad this weekend because we found out the Buckeyes can’t play in that kind of weather. Here’s hoping the weather is good in a little more than two weeks when TTUN comes to town.
