The Ohio State basketball team played their second game of the season on Thursday night against Charleston Southern. It may have been the second game of the season, but it was the first game that most Buckeye fans could watch because this game was actually on Big Ten Network.

What they saw should make them happy. Ohio State won by a score of 82-56 in a game that was never close at any point. Unlike the opener against Robert Morris, the Buckeyes had their foot on the gas from the opening tip. The Bucs never had a chance to beat the Bucks.

Zed Key was the guy who was most impressive to me. He finished the game with 17 points on 8-10 shooting and 13 rebounds. He was the best player on the floor and really showed that he has taken his game to the next level. He shot a few threes in the opener too so he’s really expanded his game.

Justice Sueing also scored in double-digits for the second time this season, adding 11 points. He didn’t take as many shots in this game because he didn’t have to. It’s good to see him fully healthy and ready to contribute to this Ohio State basketball team.

Sean McNeil added 13 points as a starter and shot 2-5 from three. Shooting beyond the arc is his specialty so he’s going to be doing that a lot this year. The only other Buckeye in double-digits for this game was Brice Sensabaugh of the bench who added 14 points.

Sensabaugh is the most offensively-gifted freshman in a great class. He actually took the most shots on the team tonight, shooting 6-12 from the field. He is going to be key once the Buckeyes play some real competition.

Speaking of real competition, the Buckeyes start playing that next game. Their next competitive game is against San Diego State in the first game of the Maui Invitational. That will tell us how good this Ohio State basketball team really is. They do play Eastern Illinois on Wednesday though.

This is a good start for the Buckeyes. Hopefully, they can keep it going.
