Ohio State basketball: What to expect vs. Robert Morris
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball season starts today as Robert Morris comes to the Schott to take on the Buckeyes. This will be our first look at the Buckeyes this season, save for the scrimmage last week against Chaminade. Now the games count for real.
Since this is the season opener, there are so many things we don’t know. Heck, we don’t even know what the starting lineup will be for this game. Justice Sueing has an ankle injury and it’s unclear right now whether or not he will even be available for this game.
Ohio State shouldn’t need Sueing to win this game. Robert Morris doesn’t project to be very good this year and the Buckeyes have a very talented freshman class for this year. I’d be surprised if this game ended up being close, but I also said the same thing about last year’s opener.
Prediction: Ohio State basketball 79 Robert Morris 60
I expect the Buckeyes to run away with this game. Tanner Holden could have a big day scoring the ball and will end up being the team’s number-one scoring threat this season in my opinion. I love his ability to create his own shot and shoot from outside as well.
One thing I’ll be watching is Zed Key’s three-point shooting. Chris Holtmann said he was giving him the green light to do so. I want to see what his shot looks like and what percentage he might end up shooting this year. Adding that dimension to his game would be huge.
The game will be on tonight at 7 pm on Big Ten+ which is a streaming program that you have to pay for. If you don’t subscribe to it, you can also stream it live on Fubo TV. Hopefully, the Buckeyes start the season out with a win!
