Former Ohio State football player Justin Fields breaks NFL record
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team struggled on offense against Northwestern. It was their worst offensive production of the season, mainly because of bad weather conditions. Not all Buckeyes had issues with offense in the Chicago area this weekend though.
Former Buckeye Justin Fields had his best game as a pro for the Bears against the Dolphins. Even though the Bears lost by three, mainly because of a missed pass interference call at the end of the game, Fields broke an NFL record for rushing yards by a quarterback.
Fields finished the game with 178 yards rushing, which is an NFL record for rushing yards by a quarterback in a regular season game. He had a 61-yard touchdown run in this game. Fields also threw for 128 yards and 3 touchdowns as well and didn’t turn the ball over at all.
Many people, including myself a few weeks ago, were wondering why Fields had struggled so much in the NFL. In the last couple of weeks, the ex-Ohio State football player has played some of the best football in his career. He has shown that he is a worthy franchise quarterback.
The Bears did go get Chase Claypool to help get Fields some better weapons to throw to. Better weapons and a better offensive line are what Fields needs to be even better. Matt Eberflus has come in and curated an offense that fits Fields’ skillset, which is exactly what you should do as a coach.
Justin Fields is one of my favorite Buckeyes in recent memory, so I love seeing him do well. Hopefully for him, this new level of play will result in some wins for the Bears soon. Fields is finally starting to play up to his billing as a top-ten pick in this league.
