The Ohio State football team plays its first game in the month of November this weekend when they take on Northwestern at Ryan Field. Once you get into the month of November, things start to get a little dicey in terms of the weather. Things start to cool down for sure.

That’s certainly going to be the case this weekend for this game. The Buckeyes have yet to have a game where they have played in bad weather. Last week was perfect in Happy Valley. The week before in the Shoe against Iowa was even better. It’s going to be a bit different this week.

Saturday is when the weather is going to start to shift in Evanston. The temperature is starting to fall as a front moves through. It will be about 60 degrees at kickoff though. The problem is going to be the wind and the rain. It very well could be a mess.

Right now, the wind is supposed to be very strong for the noon kickoff, with sustained winds at 25 mph. Gusts could be even more. That will make throwing the ball challenging enough. But it also looks like it’s going to rain too, making it even tougher.

There is about a 25% chance of rain when the game starts. The rain is going to taper off from the morning, so the chances decrease as the game goes on. That’s good news for the Buckeyes. Bad weather is how a team like Northwestern can upset them.

I expect that the Ohio State football team will be ready to go on Saturday no matter what the weather conditions are. Ryan Day will make sure they practice with a wet ball just in case. The wind is kind of hard to simulate, but I’m sure they’ll be ready for it when the time comes.
