Prediction 2: A new starter on defense for the Ohio State football team.

This prediction really has nothing to do with the game itself, but it could be the difference in whether or not Ohio State is contending for a Natty at the end of the season or not. I’m predicting that second-year corner Jordan Hancock takes over a starting spot for good in this game.

The Buckeye cornerback play has not been good this season, which has been well-documented. Denzel Burke has regressed from a season ago, although he played pretty decent against Penn State. The other cornerback spot has been a mess with either on-field production or injury. Last week, JK Johnson got the start for the unavailable Cam Brown, and he did not look particularly good. He got beat a few times and had a terrible pass interference penalty.

With Jordan Hancock finally healthy from a fall camp injury, now is his time to take over the starting role. He totaled 31 plays in last week’s win and is starting to get his legs underneath him.

Look for Hancock to get the start this Saturday against Northwestern and if he can play anywhere close to where some thought he was during fall camp, then this Buckeye defense possibly just got a lot better in the back end.
