The Ohio State football team completely dominated the fourth quarter against Penn State yesterday in Happy Valley.

When adversity reared its head yesterday at a rocking stadium in State College, Pennsylvania, the Ohio State football team rose to the occasion. The Buckeyes improved its perfect record to 8-0 following a wild fourth quarter against Penn State.

Down 21-16 with 9:26 left to play in the game, Ohio State showed why they are considered to be the best team in the country. Following a Penn State touchdown to get the Nittany Lions to 21 points, the Buckeyes responded emphatically with a three-play, 70-yard drive in only 35 seconds to take back the lead for good, capped off by a TreVeyon Henderson 41-yard touchdown run.

It was the type of drive that Ryan Day and C.J. Stroud were trying to cook up all day, and it couldn’t have happened at a better time. But then it was the J.T. Tuimoloau show as he strip-sacked Penn State’s Sean Clifford and recovered the fumble, giving the Buckeyes the ball back in Nittany Lion territory.

One play later, C.J.  Stroud found tight end Cade Stover over the middle for a 24-yard touchdown pass. Even though it was still a game at this point, the wind was taken out of the stadium. Ohio State completely started to dominate the game.

A 75-yard touchdown drive for Ohio State followed by J.T. Tuimoloau’s second interception of the game, this one returned for a score, and that was all she wrote. Ball game. I’ve never seen a player take over a game defensively like Tuimoloau did for Ohio State yesterday.

This Ohio State football team showed some major resiliency in the fourth quarter yesterday. Scoring 28 points to ice the game against a top-15 opponent in a hostile environment should not be lost on anyone. Yes, there was some bad play calling early. Yes, the defense missed some tackles. And yes, the running game could not get any traction.

Next. Ohio State football beats Penn State thanks to the defense. dark

But when their backs were up against the wall, the Buckeyes responded exactly how a championship-caliber team should. And that should get Ohio State fans excited for this stretch run.
