The Ohio State football team takes its undefeated record to Happy Valley to play the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday afternoon. Here are three predictions.

The Ohio State football team is about to play its most challenging game of the season. The Buckeyes travel to Happy Valley to take on Penn State for the Big Noon Kickoff on Fox. This is Ohio State’s first real road test of the season.

The Buckeyes come in after throttling Iowa last Saturday 54-10. After a slow start, the Scarlet and Gray put it on the Hawkeyes in the second half to secure the overwhelming win. Penn State looked excellent last weekend as well as they took care of business against Minnesota with a convincing 45-17 victory.

Ohio State is lucky that this isn’t a ‘whiteout game’ which is as tough of an environment as there is to play in the country. We’ve seen that in the past, especially during the Urban Meyer era.  The Buckeyes have the Week One game against Norte Dame to thank for that as ABC selected that game for prime time, making this one available to Fox for its Big Noon slot.

Ohio State is favored by 15.5 points early in the week. It’ll be interesting to see which way this line goes as we get closer to game time.

Even with the underwhelming loss at Michigan, Penn State is definitely a threat against Ohio State. Quarterback Sean Clifford played one of his best games for the Nittany Lions last weekend, throwing for nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns.

On defense, Penn State has a very good secondary that will challenge this high-flying Buckeye aerial assault. The cornerback tandem of Ji’Ayir Brown and Joey Porter Jr. might be the best in the Big Ten and possibly the country. Penn State’s pass rush is average at best, but it’s led by freshman Dani Dennis-Sutton who has three sacks.

Here are three bold predictions for the game.
