Ohio State football vs. Iowa: Best bets for Week 8
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is preparing to take on Iowa after the bye week. It’s a game that features an elite offense, two really strong defenses, and the worst offense in the country. There’s a lot to look at and dissect about this game on Saturday afternoon.
This is a game that shouldn’t be close if Ohio State is the team that we think they are. They have the opportunity to take a much healthier team into Saturday and show what the team can do when they have everyone available to them. This will be the first time that’s happened all year.
While we don’t know for sure who is playing yet, there are strong indications that Jaxon Smith-Njigba will be returning for this game after missing virtually the entire season with a hamstring injury. I’m very interested to see how they use him in the offense.
Ohio State football bets Week 8
There are some fun bets for this game though. First off, the spread is set at 29.5. I tend to think that the Buckeyes will be able to cover that fairly easily, even if Iowa has a stingy defense. I also think that the over of 49.5 will hit as well. Ohio State might hit that themselves.
If you’re looking for some value, the first scoring play might not be a terrible bet to make. Field goal as the first scoring play is set at +300. I could see Iowa getting a dumb field goal early or Ohio State stalling out early in this game and settling for a field goal to start the scoring off.
There’s also an interesting parlay available involving the Buckeyes. If you take the Buckeyes to cover the spread and the over, that’s +195. I think both of those will happen so that’s a pretty solid bet. Ohio State has the most potent offense in the country and can score in bunches. All odds are courtesy of FanDuel.
It should be a fun game to watch and go to as well. A Buckeye victory is all we can hope for.
