The Ohio State football team is off to an impressive 6-0 start for the 2022 season. Here is the one thing Ryan Day needs to accomplish over the bye week.

The Ohio State football team has moved up to No. 2 in the Associated Press Poll this week following a 49-20 shellacking of the Michigan State Spartans. Head coach Ryan Day has to be pleased with how his team has performed over the first half of the season.

With all that said, the bye week is upon us and it’s a chance for Ryan Day and his coaching staff to do some assessment. With a Heisman candidate at quarterback, a high-flying offense that’s delivering in all aspects, and a much-improved defense under Jim Knowles, there really isn’t much to knit pick on this Buckeye roster.

But the one thing that coach Day needs to focus on this bye week is the cornerback position. It’s no secret that it’s been the Achilles heel of this team so far. And luckily, opposing teams haven’t been able to take full advantage of that. Truth be told, there are probably only two teams remaining on the Ohio State schedule that could. Penn State and Michigan. Also of course, if the Bucks make the CFP, whoever they would play in that semifinal game.

That is why it is critical to figure out how they can improve the play of its corners. Whether it’s technique, scheme, multiple injuries, or making changes to personnel, Ryan Day, Jim Knowles, and cornerbacks coach Tim Walton must come up with a solution.

The good news for the Buckeyes is that Jordan Hancock, who figured to play a role at corner during fall camp, may be back for Ohio State when they play Iowa on October 22nd in Columbus. By all reports, he was having a great camp until he was injured.

Next. Is it time to worry about the running backs?. dark

The focus over the bye week has to be on the cornerback play. Hopefully, this Ohio State coaching staff can figure out a solution before it’s too late.
