Ohio State Football vs. Michigan State: 3 bold predictions
The Ohio State football team faces its first road test of the season as it travels to East Lansing for a matchup with Michigan State. Here are three bold predictions for the game.
The Ohio State football team and coach Ryan Day travel up north on Saturday to face off against the Michigan State Spartans. This will be the Buckeyes’ first road game of the season after playing its first five games in Ohio Stadium.
Michigan State is led by former Ohio State assistant coach Mel Tucker and comes in with a disappointing 2-3 record including a 27-13 loss against Maryland last Saturday. The Spartans were also embarrassed by Minnesota the week before at home 34-7.
Michigan State quarterback Payton Thorne was supposed to be one of the better quarterbacks in the Big Ten this season but has struggled against good competition. And the running game has been a major letdown from what it was a season ago with Kenneth Walker III touting the rock. Jalen Berger leads the team in rushing with 301 yards on the season, but most of that was accumulated in games against Akron and Western Michigan.
The Spartan’s defense does have the Big Ten leader in sacks, Jacoby Windmon with 5.5 sacks. But again, all that production was done against Akron and Western Michigan.
The Buckeyes come in as heavy favorites with a 25.5-point spread in this game. Even though this is Ohio State’s first road test, I would imagine a lot of Buckeye fans making the trek up to Spartan Stadium to give this more of a home-field advantage to the Scarlet and Gray.
