It’s Homecoming weekend at Ohio State and the Buckeyes take on Rutgers. This is the final game of a five-game homestand for the Ohio State football team to start the season. After this game, they will have their first road game of the season against Michigan State.

For this game, the Scarlet Knights aren’t the toughest opponent in the world. The spread sits at 40 with the Buckeyes as the favorites. No one thinks Rutgers can win, which is one of the reasons why Ohio State shouldn’t take Rutgers lightly.

C.J. Stroud should continue his run of Heisman numbers. I expect him and the passing game to be on fire all game long. Cade Stover has been impressive in recent weeks and I think he gets another touchdown on Saturday. Marvin Harrison Jr. should return to the end zone too.

I don’t think this game will be very close very long. Even though Rutgers is going in the right direction since Greg Schiano returned, they still have a very long way to go before they can even come close to competing against a team like the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Official Prediction: Ohio State football 56 Rutgers 7

I do expect the Buckeyes to cover the spread. I also expect the total to go over. Ohio State will likely get some backups into the game early in the second half. It will be a good game to keep their rhythm going, but also get some rest in the second half before going on the road next week.

Next. Corner injuries a blessing in disguise for Ohio State. dark

Another big win should keep them on track to make the College Football Playoff. After this game, the schedule gets a lot tougher. They still have games at MSU, at Penn State, and home against TTUN to look forward to.
