The Ohio State football team takes on Rutgers this Saturday for Homecoming. It’s not a game that a lot of people outside of Columbus are interested in. Heck, even some people in Columbus aren’t that interested in it. This game should be a blowout win for the Buckeyes.

Even so, there are some interesting elements to the game when you talk about the betting aspect of it. Ohio State is 2-2 against the spread this year, having covered both of the last two weeks. The offense is certainly hitting its stride. Will they cover again this week?

Ohio State football Best Bets Week 5

According to WynnBET, the Buckeyes are favored by 40 points in this game. It’s the largest spread of the season for Ohio State. I’m a bit surprised by this considering Rutgers isn’t that bad of a team. I guess they are really down on their offense, which essentially is starting a third-string quarterback.

This seems like another game Ohio State will cover in. My guess is that they will do a lot of what they did against Wisconsin; get up early in the first half and play backups in the second half. I don’t see a backdoor cover happening either for the Scarlet Knights.

The over/under is set at 58 for this game. I think it will once again go over. Ohio State has a chance to hit the over by themselves in this game. There’s no chance that Rutgers can slow down this Ohio State offense. That’s really what this number is about because Rutgers won’t score many points.

Can the Ohio State football team score enough points by themselves to push the total over? I say yes they can. I also think Rutgers scores at least one touchdown in this one. Shutouts are hard, especially for a defense in a new system.
