The Ohio State football team has had a great 4-0 start to the 2022 season. Here are three players that have surprised us so far.

Ryan Day has to be pleased with how the Ohio State football team has started off the 2022 season. Beating Notre Dame in Week 1 and crushing Wisconsin in Week 4 are the highlights of the season thus far.

Players such as C.J. Stroud, TreVeyon Henderson, and Parris Johnson Jr. are playing up to expectations on offense while Jack Sawyer, J.T. Tuimoloau, and Tommy Eichenberg are leading the defense like we thought they would.

The Buckeyes have also received a lift from some unexpected players as well. Here are three players that have surprised us through four games this season.

No.3) Mike Hall, DT

The four-star, top 60 recruit from Streetsboro, Ohio has surprised us in 2022. Not that we thought he wouldn’t be a good player, but that he’s doing it in only his second year in the program. Hall is completely dominating the line of scrimmage in every game he suits up for and was the major reason why Notre Dame couldn’t get anything going offensively in week one.

Hall only makes number three on our list because we were clued in during fall camp. Jim Knowles gushed about him the first time he saw him against competition, via SI.com:

"“He’s just been totally disruptive during camp,” defensive coordinator Jim Knowles said. “We get feedback from our offensive linemen, and they’ll tell you how difficult he is. If you asked the guys on your team – and these are big-time offensive linemen – they’ll tell you who is hardest guy to block, and Mike Hall certainly was that."

Whether he’s been stuffing the run or applying pressure to opposing quarterbacks, Mike Hall Jr. is a force to reckoned with on the interior of this Buckeye defensive line. And as a redshirt freshman, Hall is only going to get better and better as this season moves along.
