Ohio State football recruiting: Momentum building for OSU to land 5-star recruit
By Ryan Stano
As it sits right now, the Ohio State football team has the fifth-ranked recruiting class in the 2023 class. They have 20 recruits committed to the program. That leaves room for about five more prospects. There are still plenty of good uncommitted guys who are taking a look at the Buckeyes right now.
One of them is five-star edge rusher Keon Keeley. Keeley de-committed from Notre Dame back in August and has been looking for a new place to call home ever since. He was in Columbus when the Buckeyes took down Notre Dame on opening night and came away impressed.
Now, Keeley has scheduled a second visit to Columbus this weekend for the Wisconsin game. It will be the second night game that he has attended in Columbus. There’s a growing sentiment around the Ohio State football program that Keeley could ultimately choose the Buckeyes.
According to several recruiting analysts, it’s neck and neck with Alabama for Keeley’s services. Keeley has an official visit scheduled for Tuscaloosa in three weeks when the Tide take on Texas A&M. But Ohio State has another chance to get in his ear first.
The performance of the defense in the first three weeks has certainly improved Ohio State’s chances of landing the top edge rusher in the 2023 class. The improvement they have shown from last season has been eye-opening. Another good performance against a Big Ten foe might seal the deal.
It’s likely that Keeley would still keep his official visit to Alabama no matter how well this weekend goes. But there is momentum for Ohio State to emerge from this battle with Bama victorious. Ohio State football fans need to hope for a good performance from the defense on Saturday night.
A big-time victory over the Badgers would be great for this season and maybe even next season.
