Ohio State football: Five-star DE to make second visit to Columbus
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is riding high after a 77-21 blistering of Toledo on Saturday night. It was the first time this season that the offense looked unstoppable. The defense wasn’t perfect, but they obviously did enough to get the win. They also did enough to get a top recruit’s attention.
Keon Keeley, the top-rated edge rusher in the 2023 class, has already made one visit to Columbus. He was on hand to watch the Buckeyes beat Notre Dame in the season-opener. Keeley had de-committed from Notre Dame just a few weeks earlier.
It seems as though Keeley wants another look at the Ohio State football program. He will be taking a second official visit this weekend when Wisconsin rolls into town. This will give him the best look yet at Ohio State’s new-look defense now that it has been about a month into the season.
Keeley would be a massive get for the Buckeyes. He is the 7th-best player in the 2023 class overall and would be a great fit in Jim Knowles’ defense. That might be why Keeley is taking a second visit. He wants to see just how he’d fit into this new scheme.
As of right now, the folks at 247Sports still have Keeley headed to Alabama. He will be taking a visit to Tuscaloosa on October 8th. But this is a big chance for the Buckeyes to change that. Getting a second official visit from him is a great chance to seal the deal before he even makes it to Tuscaloosa for that visit.
Another big win on Saturday night would go a long way for Ohio State’s chances at landing Keeley. Wisconsin is not an easy opponent to face. Having the defense look good against the Badgers would greatly increase their odds of landing him.
