The Ohio State football team was able to destroy Toledo on Saturday night 77-21. It was a game that wasn’t competitive after the first few minutes of the first quarter. The Buckeyes did a great job of dominating this game throughout, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

This was the best offensive performance of the season so far for the Ohio State football team. They were able to do whatever they wanted on the ground and through the air. Here are some grades for how each unit did against the Rockets.

QB. Ohio State Buckeyes. QUARTERBACKS . A+.

C.J. Stroud was on fire in this game. He finished 22/27 for 367 yards and 5 touchdowns. He carved up Toledo from the moment the game started. His only miscue was missing a wide-open Cade Stover in the endzone on one possession. Other than that, he was brilliant.

Kyle McCord was also good when he got time to play too. He finished 5/7 for 115 yards and a touchdown. He was locked in on Jayden Ballard as his favorite target, as Ballard caught 4 of those balls for 113 yards, as well as the touchdown. Great night for the quarterbacks.

Ohio State Buckeyes. RUNNING BACKS. A. . RB

The running game was finally clicking like we all expected it to. The only reason this grade isn’t an A+ is because TreVeyon Henderson didn’t play after the first series due to some undisclosed injury. He finished with just 4 carries for 19 yards and a touchdown.

Miyan Williams took over after that. He had 10 carries for 77 yards and ran really hard while he was out there. Dallan Hayden got some extended playing time for the first time in his young career, getting 17 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown.

The best offensive play of the night went to walk-on TC Caffey. He had 6 carries for 57 yards and a touchdown. He had a great 39-yard touchdown run in which he looked like he was stuffed, but then he bounced around outside and broke two tackles on his way to the endzone.

. OL. Ohio State Buckeyes. OFFENSIVE LINE. A+

The offensive line had their best performance of the season in this game too. The running backs combined to have 38 carries for 262 yards. Even Mitch Rossi got in on the touchdown action. It was all because the offensive line was able to move Toledo off the line of scrimmage and open up holes.

It wasn’t just in the running game where the offensive line excelled. They protected C.J. Stroud extremely well all night. No one came close to hitting him all night while he was passing the ball. The Rockets did not record a single sack.

A+. . TE. Ohio State Buckeyes. TIGHT ENDS

This was the best night of the season for Cade Stover. I love it when Ryan Day gets the tight end involved and Stover was involved in the first half of this game. Stover had 3 catches for 83 yards. He was open up the seam all night long. He also did an excellent job blocking in the running game as well.

A+. . WR. Ohio State Buckeyes. WIDE RECEIVERS

Another dominant game from the wide receivers. Jaxon Smith-Njigba made his return and was the least impactful of the receivers, catching only 2 passes for 33 yards. Everyone else had a great game though, including Julian Fleming who made his season debut. He had 2 catches for touchdowns.

We already talked about how Ballard looked once McCord came in. Emeka Egbuka was really good again, catching 7 passes for 116 yards and a score. He also had a 3-yard rushing touchdown as well. But it was Marvin Harrison Jr. who was once again the best receiver on the field.

Harrison Jr. had 6 catches for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. All of his catches were spectacular as well, including his first touchdown. He was somehow able to get two feet in bounds along the sideline for the TD.

This is the type of effort that Ryan Day wanted to see right before Wisconsin comes to town. Hopefully, the Ohio State football team can recreate this effort next week too.
