Ohio State Football vs. Toledo: Three bold predictions
3. The Ohio State football team finally covers the spread in a huge blowout win.
Playing a primetime game under the lights in the Horseshoe is supposed to be a treasured event played against top opponents like Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Texas. Lately, it’s becoming nothing more than a way for TV stations to capitalize on viewers for meaningless games. And that’s what we have here. In no way shape or form should this game or the game last season against Akron be under the lights in Ohio Stadium. But it is what it is.
The Buckeyes should have no problem going against the Rockets. Vince Kehres, who is the son of legendary Mount Union coach Larry Kehres is the defensive coordinator and will probably have a sound game plan coming into this game. He just won’t have the horses to execute.
He does however have former Buckeye linebacker Dallas Gant to man the middle of his defense. He had nine tackles last week but that won’t be enough as I believe Ryan Day will be looking to make a statement early in this game. Expect some quick scoring drives to put Ohio State comfortably ahead before the first quarter is over.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba is reportedly a go for this game. Look for Day to get him a few touches to get back into game mode followed by a quick hook to keep him from further injury. Buckeyes win big and cover the spread.
Ohio State 54, Toledo 10.
