Ohio State football vs. Toledo: Injury report
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is set to take on Toledo in the Shoe on Saturday night. It’s a game that the Buckeyes should be able to win without too much effort, but they are trying to prepare for next week’s opponent. Wisconsin comes into the Shoe for another night game next week.
It’s important that the Buckeyes play well this week heading into that Big Ten matchup. Ryan Day wants his team to perform well heading into that game because that’s when the hard part of the schedule starts. Being crisp this weekend is key in doing so.
Day is going to have his team healthy for the first time all season long. He said that Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the best receiver in the country, is going to play in this one. He had been nursing a hamstring injury that took him out of the Notre Dame game early.
Julian Fleming will also be playing on Saturday. This will be his season debut after getting hurt in Fall camp. It’s unclear how many snaps he’ll get with the starters now that Emeka Egbuka has solidified his spot alongside JSN and Marvin Harrison Jr.
Kamryn Babb will also make his season debut. I’m actually a little surprised he’s able to go this week, although he got hurt much earlier than Fleming did in camp. He’s only going to get snaps when the backups get into the game, which is hopefully in the second half of this game.
Jordan Hancock will also make his season debut this week after missing the first two games of the year. Hancock gives the Ohio State football team some much-needed depth at the cornerback position. He was playing well in camp before getting hurt.
Toledo comes into this game very healthy and will have its full slate of players. It’s good that both teams will be able to play this game fully healthy.
