The Ohio State football team is getting some weapons back
By Ryan Stano
For the greater part of the last two games, the Ohio State football team has not been at full strength when it comes to their receivers. They have been without their best player on the roster in Jaxon Smith-Njigba since the first quarter of the Notre Dame game, which is a big deal.
Not any longer. Ryan Day said today during his press conference that he expects Smith-Njigba to play this week after missing the entirety of last week’s game against Arkansas State. He has been suffering from a hamstring injury and Day did add that they wouldn’t put him out there unless he’s 100%.
Smith-Njigba isn’t the only weapon Ohio State is getting back though. Day also said that the Buckeyes expect Julian Fleming should make his season debut this weekend as well. Fleming has been dealing with injuries his entire career and he’s yet to make an impact on this team.
While the Buckeyes are still missing Kamryn Babb, getting two guys back at receiver in a warmup game before the Big Ten portion of the schedule starts is huge. Both JSN and Fleming should add even more firepower to this offense, especially Smith-Njigba.
The Ohio State football team isn’t just getting weapons back on offense either. Day also said that they expect to get cornerback Jordan Hancock back for this week’s game as well. Hancock was a guy that they were counting on to play a fair amount this year, so getting him back will be good.
I can’t wait to see what the offense looks like with everyone fully healthy. This should be a good tune-up to have right before the Badgers come to town next week. We’ll have our Toledo preview up later today as well, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
