Ohio State football dominates Arkansas State
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team was expected to win by at least 44 points against Arkansas State on Saturday. I thought that spread was too much. That ended up being the case, but the Buckeyes dominated the Red Wolves 45-12 in a game that got out of hand in the second half.
The defense wasn’t as good in Week 2 as they were against Notre Dame. Denzel Burke in particular got burned multiple times. He also got called for a couple of pass interference calls. He ended up getting replaced by JK Johnson in the first half for a few series because of how bad he was.
Marvin Harrison Jr. had himself a game. He caught 7 passes for 184 yards and 3 touchdowns. He actually got screwed out of another touchdown in the second quarter after refs ruled an incompletion. He should have had an even better game than he did.
C.J. Stroud was also very good in this game. He went 16/24 for 351 yards and 4 touchdowns. A performance like this puts him right back in the thick of the Heisman Trophy conversation after a bit of a lackluster performance. It was good to see him bounce back in a strong way.
TreVeyon Henderson was pretty good in the limited carries he got. He had only 10 carries but had 87 yards and 2 touchdowns in this one. He was the running back that was the hot hand and he showed it. I was hoping to see a better rushing effort, although they still had 168 rushing yards as a team.
This was a good game to get back on track after a sub-par game by the Ohio State football team’s standards, even without their best player on Jaxon Smith-Njigba. They should carry this momentum into the next game against Toledo next Saturday night.
