The Ohio State basketball team is looking to make the 2022-23 season a memorable one. They have fallen short of expectations in the postseason so far under Chris Holtmann. They are looking to change that this season. First, though, they have to make the NCAA Tournament.

In order to do that, they have to amass solid wins. They now know their entire schedule because the Big Ten schedule was released today. The non-conference schedule is highlighted by games against North Carolina, Duke, and either Cincinnati or Arizona. What does the Big Ten schedule highlight?

The first thing that sticks out to me is the fact that the Ohio State basketball team only plays TTUN once. They play them in Ann Arbor on February 5th, so Buckeye fans won’t get to see them play their rivals at home in the Schott this season.

The end of the schedule is brutal for the Buckeyes. Their final three games are home against Illinois, Maryland, and then at Michigan State. Those games could be critical in deciding who the winner of the Big Ten Conference is. All three of those teams will be in the thick of things too.

Ohio State’s toughest Big Ten games will be at TTUN, at Michigan State, and at Purdue. Playing in Mackey Arena is never fun for Big Ten teams. Ohio State does play Purdue extremely well, especially in Mackey. That doesn’t mean they always win though.

It will be interesting to see how an extremely young and new team will do in Big Ten play. These are guys who don’t have experience playing in the toughest conference in the country. They better get used to it quickly because there are no bad teams in the Big Ten.
