The Ohio State football team is coming off a fantastic win over a preseason top-five team in Notre Dame. They beat them on Saturday night 21-10. Now comes the easy part of the non-conference schedule, starting this week against Arkansas State.

This is a game where the Buckeyes should be able to show the full force of the offense. They weren’t particularly potent in the game against the Irish, so they should be able to put big numbers against a lesser foe like the Red Wolves. Expect the Buckeyes to execute a lot easier.

Ohio State football vs. Arkansas State Odds Week 2

Right now, the Buckeyes sit at 43.5 point favorites according to FanDuel. I wouldn’t be surprised if that line goes up by the end of the week. While the Red Wolves did win 58-3 over Grambling last week, they are still nowhere near as talented as Ohio State.

The over/under sits at 68.5 with -110 odds on that as well. Last week’s Buckeye game went under, which was surprising to me. I thought Ohio State’s offense was going to be better and their defense was going to be worse. But Notre Dame is a good team.

Ohio State football vs. Arkansas State Prediction Week 2

Jaxon Smith-Njigba could be back for next week, but the Buckeyes shouldn’t need him for this game. I’d actually like to see the Ohio State football team run the ball earlier in this game. They didn’t commit to the run until late against Notre Dame when they finally got the lead.

I still think the passing game will be better this week. I also expect the defense to be good from the get-go and shouldn’t have any screw-ups like they did on the first play from scrimmage Saturday night. 68.5 is a lot of points to be scored in a game, I’m not sure that many will be there.

I do like the Buckeyes to cover this week though. I have them winning 52-10 and I think a lot of backups see snaps in this one.
