The Ohio State football team is a true national title contender

I know it’s very early in the season and there are teams still getting their sea legs under them, but the Ohio State football team may have gotten the best win of any team this week. Not only that, but they look like a team that is built to be able to win it all.

Ohio State’s big question was going to be the defense but they seemed to have answered that question in a big way. This is a team that is good enough to win the national championship this year as long as they stay focused and stay mentally sharp.

The exciting thing about this win is that Jim Knowles said the defense was still pretty basic on Saturday night. They have more that they can show and will show once they get some more work done. That means the defense can be even better. That’s a scary thought for the Big Ten.

Ohio State took a big first step towards being able to make a run at the CFP after missing out on it last season. Other Big Ten teams did have big wins, most notably TTUN, Michigan State, and Wisconsin, but none of those wins were as impressive as Ohio State’s.

Critics will point to the fact that the Buckeyes didn’t cover the spread. While I did predict a blowout that didn’t happen, I’m still happy with the performance of the team. The defense surprised me and the offense was dealt a bad hand with Jaxon Smith-Njigba getting hurt.

JSN should be back next week and the Buckeyes should have a better game offensively. It should be a great season ahead!
