The Ohio State basketball team has been hoping to get something out of Seth Towns ever since he decided to come to Columbus from Duke. Unfortunately, he has had some issues staying healthy and has hardly played the last two seasons for the Buckeyes.

In fact, Towns only played 25 games in the 20-21 season. In those games, he averaged 3.8 points per game while playing just 10.8 minutes per game. He did not play at all last season because of lingering issues with his knee. Now, he is done playing basketball at Ohio State.

Towns took to social media to declare that he will not be returning to basketball. He is walking away from the game due to the multitude of injuries that he has had to deal with.

It’s unfortunate that Towns was never able to make a real impact on the Ohio State basketball team. He was a really solid player while he was at Harvard and was the Ivy League Player of the Year. Injuries robbed him of what could have been a really good career.

Towns wasn’t going to be a big part of the rotation this year anyway. I wrote that I wasn’t planning on Towns being healthy until I saw it. Clearly, that ended up not being the case. Towns decided to step away from the game before he even tried to play this season.

I hope that Towns is able to find happiness in whatever the next chapter in his life ends up being. He is a very smart young man and should be able to be successful at whatever he does. Towns is set up for the future with degrees from both Harvard and Ohio State.
