Ohio State football vs. Notre Dame: Weather report
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team plays its first game of the season tomorrow night against Notre Dame. It’s just over 24 hours away. It’s a game that could define both teams’ seasons right away. The atmosphere should be pretty raucous for this one.
Notre Dame is going to try to come in and run the ball and control the clock. They don’t want Ohio State’s passing game to get going and strike quickly. They need all the help they can get, including from the weather. Well, they might get what they wished for on that front.
The weather is looking a little dicey. Kickoff looks fine right now. It looks to be about 78 degrees and cloudy. There is a 24% chance of rain at that time, but it doesn’t look too bad. The wind will be a non-factor also. The weather is going to get worse as time goes on though.
Starting in the second half, the rain chances increase. By the end of the game around 11 pm, the chances are at 45%. They are described by local weathermen as “scattered” so they may not even hit Columbus. Even so, the chance that they are there is still scary.
It’s scary because weather like that plays right into the Irish’s hands. They need to muck this game up as much as possible so the Ohio State football team can’t get the offense going. If there are thunderstorms, the game would also be delayed because of lightning, and that would mean not all of the fans would return to their seats once the game resumes.
Hopefully, the bad weather stays away for the duration of the game. We’ll see what happens. Scattered storms are extremely hard to predict. For the Buckeyes’ sake, I hope they miss Columbus all day long.
