The Ohio State football team has so many weapons on offense. It’s an embarrassment of riches honestly. They have the best receiver room in the country and arguably the best receiver in the country. They have the Heisman front-runner and a skilled play-caller in Ryan Day.

And yet, the Buckeyes should set the tone without the passing game to start on Saturday’s game against Notre Dame. They should use TreVeyon Henderson to set it. He is also a deadly weapon that teams should be very afraid of, but he’s the one teams might be forced to deal with.

With so many weapons in the passing game, defenses might force the Ohio State football team to try and run the ball more. That’s just fine with them with Henderson in the backfield. He has the potential to break a big run every time he touches the ball.

Henderson not only has the breakaway speed that makes him a dangerous back, but he also has the power that he needs to get some tough yards. He just needs an offensive line that can get him some push in short-yardage situations and he can do the rest.

The Buckeyes have to improve in that area. That’s part of the reason that Justin Frye was brought in. He needs to get the offensive line to be tougher and to want to be dominant. Ohio State has had some toughness issues on both lines, so that needs to change to help Henderson.

Even with an offensive line that was up and down last year, Henderson still was a monster. He had almost 1,300 yards as a true freshman and he didn’t even start early on in the year. This is his backfield now though and he knows it. Notre Dame does too.

I expect Henderson to have a good game against the Fighting Irish. He’s going to make it really hard for Notre Dame to stop this Ohio State offense. And failing to do that would mean a Buckeye win.
