We are officially less than a week away from the start of the 2022 college football season. While the Ohio State football team might not play in Week 0, they will play the prominent non-conference matchup of the season in Week 1 when Notre Dame comes to town.

With the season being so close to kicking off, the Associated Press has released their Preseason All-American Teams. On those teams are five Buckeyes, including three who were selected to the First-Team. The list of players shouldn’t surprise anyone.

TreVeyon Henderson was a First-Team selection. He shared that distinction with Texas running back Bijan Robinson. Both backs are expected to compete for postseason awards and will be fighting each other for the distinction as the best running back in the country.

Perhaps the biggest no-brainer is Jaxon Smith-Njigba being named to the First-Team as well. In my eyes, he’s the best receiver in the country and will definitely be a first-round pick after the season is over. He’ll be an All-American at the end of the season too.

The final player to make the First Team is Paris Johnson Jr. He is projected to be a first-round pick as well at the end of the season. Johnson Jr. will be in his first season at tackle after playing right guard last season. Now, he protects C.J. Stroud‘s blindside.

Speaking of Stroud, he was named Second-Team All-American. He was behind Bryce Young, who won the Heisman Trophy last year while at Alabama. I’d say that’s fair. Stroud may take that First-Team distinction away from Young by the end of the season though.

The last Ohio State football player named Second-Team is tackle Dawand Jones. Jones had some good moments last year in his first year as a starter and should be even better this year. I’m a little surprised he got recognized nationally but it’s well-deserved.
