Ohio State Football: Five-star recruit back on the radar
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is looking to close out their 2023 recruiting class strong. They have a good class going right now but are still trying to reach that number one spot. They might get there if they can pull off an upset and land a recently de-committed five-star prospect.
That five-star prospect is Keon Keeley. He de-committed from Notre Dame late last night and has now opened his recruitment. He did just take a visit to Alabama this past weekend though, so it looks like Bama is the favorite to land Keeley right now.
That doesn’t mean that the Ohio State football team can’t make a run at him though. The Buckeyes were also among one of his top choices when he initially committed to Notre Dame. If they can get him in for a visit during the Notre Dame game, things could change in a hurry.
As far as a prospect, Keeley is the complete package. He’s the 9th-best player in the country and the best edge guy in the country. He’s from Florida and stands at 6’6 and 242 pounds. That’s the ideal size for someone to slide into Larry Johnson’s defensive line scheme.
Keeley has the size, strength, and speed to be a game-wrecker at the next level. Ohio State would love to be able to snatch him from Alabama. It’s up to Ryan Day and his staff to get him on campus in a couple of weeks to show him what kind of atmosphere he could be playing in.
Landing Keeley would be a massive boost to this recruiting class. They would slingshot around Notre Dame and Texas and would just sit behind Alabama for that number one spot. That would be pretty darn good after the beginning of the month was bad for recruiting.
