Could Ohio State basketball land Bronny James?
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team has done a great job with recruiting in the last couple of years. Chris Holtmann has done an excellent job of bringing in strong recruiting classes in his tenure. In fact, it’s the strength of his program at the moment.
Lebron James is one of the best players in the history of basketball and he’s obviously from Ohio. He went straight to the NBA out of high school and it worked out for him. But he’s always maintained that if he did have to go to college that he would have played for the Ohio State basketball program.
So with those two things being said, do the Buckeyes have a chance to land his son? Bronny James has been floating around on social media recently after he had a dunk that his father tweeted out on a game that was on ESPN.
Lebron has said he wants to keep playing until Bronny comes into the league so that he could play with him. Bronny is going to be a freshman in college in 2023, the class that Holtmann is recruiting for now. He’s also a four-star prospect. Allegedly, Bronny has Ohio State as one of the schools he’s interested in.
Holtmann already has four commits in the class. There’s a good chance that he doesn’t take any more kids in 2023. If he does though, he should absolutely try to get Bronny. He’s good, not great right now but he obviously has elite genetics and a solid work ethic.
There’s no indication as to when James will ultimately make his decision. He’s got about a year to make that choice, so a lot will happen between now and then. Landing him would be the biggest recruit Holtmann has ever landed as a head coach though.
