The Ohio State football program had the best recruiting class in school history in the 2022 cycle. They were the second-best class in the country and had plenty of talented prospects. Some of those freshmen will get some playing time this year as well.
Even with the Buckeyes having such a good class, recruits who chose other schools were talking some smack. One notable player was Ken Talley, a four-star recruit in this past cycle. He was someone that committed to Big Ten foe Penn State and talked some smack about Ohio State.

As you can see in that tweet, Talley said recruits don’t actually get playing time at Ohio State. Clearly, Talley wasn’t good enough to get playing time either because he is already in the transfer portal after just four months being. Nittany Lion.
The irony is hard to miss here. Talley is leaving the program he committed to just three weeks before the start of the season. With him leaving so late, it’s unclear if he’ll even be eligible to play this year for another program. Even if he was, he’s way behind the eight-ball than other players at that new school, so he probably wouldn’t see a ton of playing time anyway.
Meanwhile, Ohio State has a track record of playing freshmen who actually earn playing time. Both J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer got significant playing time last season as true freshmen. They aren’t the only true freshmen to get significant snaps under Ryan Day either.
It will be interesting to see where Talley ultimately ends up. Ohio State football fans have been all over this on social media. He deleted his initial tweet, but as you can see everything on the internet lives forever.
