The Ohio State football team is still finishing up their 2023 recruiting class. We told you who the top three recruits left on their board were, and one of them has now made it official. The Buckeyes are getting another safety, their third safety of the 2023 class.

That safety is Jayden Bonsu. Bonsu is a four-star safety and will be the third safety in this class. In my opinion, he has a chance to be the best of the three that the Buckeyes bring in this year. He has the size and the athleticism to excel in Jim Knowles’ new system.

Knowles is going to do the best that he can to make the defense improve every year that he’s here. The first step in that is recruiting better players. The Ohio State football team specifically needs to be better in the secondary, as that was the weakest part of their defense the last couple of season.

All three of the safeties in the Buckeyes’ class are four-stars and are actually low-rated four-stars. They weren’t able to land any five-stars as they did in the 2022 class when they got Sonny Styles. They missed out on their top safety target for the 2023 class.

Bonsu probably won’t come in and impact the team right away, but he has a chance to get some playing time a couple of seasons from now. He still has things that he needs to improve on before he can get consistent playing time.

No matter what, this is a good get for the Buckeyes. Their class is still ranked fourth in the country right now. Adding a few more recruits will help their ranking before Signing Day.
