Ohio State football honors Kamryn Babb
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has an impressive group of wide receivers. It’s filled with former four and five-star recruits that were some of the best recruits in the entire country when they were coming out of high school. It’s almost unfair how good the room is.
One of those players in the room hasn’t been able to show what he can do though. That player is Kamryn Babb. Babb was a four-star recruit in the 2018 class when he chose Ohio State. Unfortunately, he’s been robbed of a chance to show his skills on the field.
That’s because he has suffered injuries every year that has kept him off the field. Four torn ACLs have kept him off the field and showing off his skills. In fact, in his Ohio State football career, Babb has not recorded a single catch. He just has two tackles on special teams.
His teammates decided to honor him by awarding him the Block O jersey this season. That means that he will be wearing the patch on his jersey this year. This is Babb’s last chance to play football and actually contribute on the field, so this is a big honor for him.
How much Babb actually contributes and helps the Buckeyes remains to be seen. He certainly won’t be one of the main guys out on the field. But I don expect to see Babb out there and actually catching some passes this year, whether it’s in a blowout setting or early in the game against a lesser opponent.
It’s a shame that Babb has had to deal with injuries like this throughout his career. He’s got a great attitude about it though. He has learned to roll with the punches and take what life has thrown at him. I really hope that he can get some passes this year.
If he does, the Buckeye fans will give him the loud roar that he deserves.
