The Ohio State football team is one of the favorites to win the national championship this year. By most betting lines and expert opinions, it’s either the Buckeyes or Bama who are going to win it all. Some people also have Georgia defending their national title from a year ago.

Regardless, the Buckeyes are clearly the Big Ten’s best hope at making the College Football Playoff and are certainly their best hope at winning a national title. They aren’t the only team in the Big Ten that possesses the talent to possibly make it to the CFP, but they are the best.

The only other team who has a realistic shot at making the CFP is TTUN. The only way that would happen is if Ohio State were to lose to them for a second consecutive year. That hasn’t happened in over 20 years, plus the game is in The Shoe. I wouldn’t bet on that.

Pretty much every year, the Ohio State football team is the Big Ten’s best hope at ending the SEC’s run of dominance on the national stage. The Big Ten could be the second-best conference in terms of top teams and the Buckeyes are at the top of the conference.

I’d be shocked if Ohio State wasn’t able to make the Playoff this year. That’s how good I think this team is. There is a game or two I could see them losing in the regular season, but I’d be absolutely floored if they were to lose two games in the regular season again.

We’ll see what the Buckeyes are able to do this year. It all starts at the beginning of next month against a really good Notre Dame team. A win against them would certainly start the season off right and give the Big Ten hope right away.
