Ohio State Buckeyes: C.J. Stroud says Ohio State football could beat the Buckeyes basketball team in a basketball game
By Jacob Rhymer
Well folks, there could be a very interesting matchup brewing in Columbus. That would be the Ohio State football team vs the Ohio State basketball team on the hardwood. C.J. Stroud’s comment at Big Ten Media Days had Buckeye Nation buzzing on Twitter this past Wednesday.
The Quarterback of the Buckeyes put the social media world in a frenzy after his remarks that some guys on the football team could compete with the Buckeye basketball team. In response to the interview with Stroud, some of the basketball players started to chime in on Twitter.
This would not be a close game at all. It is two different sports and they’re both trained differently for their respected sport. Of course some guys played on the basketball team for their high school team, but they came to Ohio State for football so that’s what they’re training for.
Sure the football team is extremely athletic, but playing a forty-minute, up and down the floor basketball game is not an easy task to do. The Buckeyes’ basketball team is trained to play at a fast pace and score at a high rate. It would be difficult for the football guys to keep up in a basketball game with the basketball team.
This was a very cold take by Stroud at Big Ten Media days. Hypothetically thinking, this would be a fun game to tune in too. However, this Buckeye basketball team has beaten NCAA Tournament teams by 15 or more points. The Ohio State basketball team would blow out the Ohio State football team in a basketball game and it shouldn’t even be an argument.
Of course this matchup would never happen. Don’t want to risk the chance of anyone on the football or basketball team getting injured. But, it would be must watch TV just to see how it goes.
