You know the college football season is right around the corner when media days are here. It’s the start of that for the Big Ten, and the Ohio State football team will have representatives there to talk to the media about the upcoming season and all things Big Ten.

I’m not as much concerned about this upcoming season as I am about the possible conference realignment. Things have been pretty quiet since the Big Ten added USC and UCLA to the conference starting in 2024. So far, nothing else has happened yet.

Apart from Gene Smith’s comments, no one else in the Big Ten has given us any insight as to what other conversations might be happening along that front. Buckeye fans aren’t naive and know that these conversations have to be happening behind closed doors at all of the Big Ten schools.

This might be the first time that we get to hear from some players in the conference that could tell us some new information. I know that the coaches and athletic directors will get asked about it, so I’m interested to see what people from other programs say.

These Big Ten people might hint at further expansion, they might deny it, or they might just simply dodge all of the questions. I don’t know. What I do know is that this is something that fans care deeply about and want answers about. Everyone wants to know what’s going to happen next.

We’ll definitely keep our eyes out for anything interesting that comes out this week. I’m sure that more than one thing will pop out. The Buckeyes themselves are just focused on the season ahead, but the people in charge know that more change is on the horizon.
