The Ohio State football team leads the country in NIL compensation for its players. We saw that already. What we didn’t know was how the money gets distributed for NIL compensation. We didn’t know who on the team gets paid the most. That is until now.

According to Carnell Tate, one of the wide receiver recruits in the 2023 class, the quarterbacks on the Ohio State football team get paid the most with NIL money. But wide receivers aren’t that far behind. The receivers get paid second-most according to what Tate said on a Spaces conversation on Twitter.

I can’t say that it’s surprising that the Buckeyes are able to get the most amount of money for the quarterbacks. That is the most important position on the field. I am a little bit surprised that the receivers make the second-most money considering the tradition that receivers have at Ohio State.

I figured that Ohio State wouldn’t need to pay receivers that much money because of how good of a coach Brian Hartline is and how well he’s been able to develop the talent for the NFL. Apparently, that’s not the case. The Buckeyes get NIL money for the passing game.

You have to think that the Buckeyes will start dishing out money for some of the other positions on the team soon. They certainly need to get some help in the trenches. That’s the majority of the reason why Ohio State lost both games last year that they lost.

We know that there are several NIL collectives that help give money to Ohio State football players. I’ll be interested to see if they distribute the money differently depending on the recruits in a particular class. There’s still so much we don’t know about how the NIL money works.
