The Ohio State football team has one of the best quarterbacks in the country in C.J. Stroud. He will either be the first or second pick in next year’s draft depending on how well he plays this year. He’s a big reason why some people are picking the Buckeyes to win it all.

Stroud has been on a couple of preseason watchlists already. Now, he’s on another one. This one is for being the best quarterback in America. Stroud was officially named to the Davey O’Brien Award preseason watchlist today. This shouldn’t come as any surprise.

Stroud finished the year as strong as any quarterback in the country after his electric game against Utah without his two best receivers. He should only be better this year now that he’s had a full year to be the starter and develop in that role.

His main competition for this award is Bryce Young, who won the Heisman last year. Young and Alabama are one of the favorites to win it all this season after making the National Championship Game a year ago, falling to their SEC rival Georgia. Bama is looking to make some moves this year.

But, the Ohio State football team is too. Behind Stroud, they have the most potent offense in the country. Their championship window is now with all of the weapons they have on offense. If the defense improves even a little bit, they might not lose a single game all year.

This award is nice for Stroud but ultimately doesn’t mean anything. He hasn’t accomplished anything in the 2022 season yet. He has to go out and prove that he should be recognized as the best quarterback in the entire country. That starts in the opener against Notre Dame on September 3rd.
