Ryan Day first came to the Ohio State football program back in 2017 as the Co-Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. Since then, he’s gained the reputation as one of the best offensive minds in the college football world. Then, he was promoted to Head Coach in 2019.

Since that promotion, Day has been working hard to put his own stamp on the Ohio State football program. He wanted to keep a lot of the infrastructure that was in place when Urban Meyer was leading the program, but he also wanted to add his own spin to things.

This is the year that Day fully defines his own era. Most of the players that Meyer recruited are now gone. These are the guys that Day wanted to bring into the program and have success with. Day has already made one National Championship game as a head coach and he wants to go to more.

2022 could be the best chance he’s had since the 2019 season, which is still the best team I’ve ever seen Ohio State have. I’ll go to the grave thinking the refs screwed the Buckeyes out of a shot to play for a national title, but that’s neither here nor there.

The point is, Day is putting his stamp on this program forever in multiple ways. From the way that he’s calling plays, to the coaching staff that he’s putting around him, to the way that he’s recruiting. He’s making this a defining moment in Ohio State football history.

Ohio State is set to be one of the favorites to win the national championship this season. We’ll see how Day is able to improve this team to make the extra leap that they have to make in order to make it that far.
