The Ohio State football program has a unique schedule this year. It has them starting out with five straight home games to start the season. It’s a special treat for Buckeye fans to see their team at home every week in the month of September when the weather is still good.

Now, the Ohio State football program has announced the themes for each of those games. There will be something different about every game in the month of September, starting with the season opener against Notre Dame. That game will feature a celebration.

That game will see the Buckeyes celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 2002 national championship team. There will be players and coaches who will return for that game. I’m sure Jim Tressel will make a trip back for that one just as he did in 2012 for the 10th anniversary.

In the second game of the season, the Buckeyes will take on Arkansas State. That will be the Scarlet and Gray game. It will also be the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame Celebration, as well as the Buckeyes Care game. A lot will be happening on September 10th.

The following week against Toledo will be the alumni band game. That will also be a night game, so that should be a fun atmosphere for the alumni to come back to. That game is also the final non-conference game that Ohio State plays for the regular season.

For the Big Ten opener against Wisconsin, the Buckeyes want a blackout. That would also seem to imply that it will be a night game. Why else would you want the crowd to wear black? It wouldn’t make sense for them to do that for a day or afternoon kickoff.
