Ohio State Football can still get better on offense
By Ryan Stano
It’s not often that the number one offense in college football can still get better. When a team is that good, they are the best for a reason. That was the case for the Ohio State football team last year. They were statistically the best offense in the entire country.
And yet, there are still things that they can get better at this year. Even though they accumulated the most yards per game in total offense and scored the most points per game too, they can get even better. Ryan Day knows what his team needs to do better and has certainly been working on that.
The Buckeyes need to run the ball better in short-yardage situations. We’ve already been over that, as well as their need to be better in the trenches. The point is, even though the Buckeyes were the best offense in the country they can still be better.
That’s a scary thought for the rest of the college football world. C.J. Stroud is already one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy and is in the running to be the number one overall pick next year. Jaxon Smith-Njigba could be the best receiver in the country. Yet, this offense can still be better.
If the offense does improve, it’s going to be hard for teams to beat the Buckeyes this season. As long as the defense isn’t a bottom-ten defense, an improved offense might be able to keep the Buckeyes in the national championship hunt.
